Passport
Passport Systems Travel documents of the future become reality Along with the practically boundless opportunities of global travel, there is a need to provide travel documents, i.e. passports and visas, with greater protection against counterfeiting, thereby increasing their reliability. The passport of old with portrait photograph and security printing alone can no longer meet these requirements. Governments all over the world have already started moving towards modern, chip-based passport documents that make use of biometric data. After all, it is a person's individual physical features that make him or her unmistakable. Visa Entry Reform Act 2002 With the "Visa Entry Reform Act 2002", the US government is requiring the development of new travel documents with biometric features from all 27 visa waiver countries. These features are respected as the condition for retention of visa waiver status. The trend is definitively towards a chip-based, contactless solution integrated in a standard passport document.
